Body Control Pilates (www.bodycontrolpilates.com) is recognised as a world-leading education provider for Pilates teaching. Body Control Pilates is remarkably effective – and medically-approved. It is of an holistic nature, being based upon a well-constructed philosophical foundation. Central to the Method is ‘awareness of your own body’ and each and every exercise is built around its eight basic principles:
Relaxation
Concentration
Co-ordination
Centreing
Alignment
Breathing
Stamina
Flowing Movements
It can be helpful for me as your teacher to see your alignment if you wear more fitted clothing, however my preference is for you to please wear what you feel comfortable in and have freedom to move in. Shoes should not be worn during class and you may either be barefoot or wear socks. If you choose to wear socks, you are encouraged to choose some with ‘grip’ to ensure your safety.
Clients are advised to seek medical advice before undertaking a new exercise programme. Pilates exercises are very safe, however your participation is at your own risk. You are encouraged to take exercises at your own pace and rest when you need to. It is your responsibility to be aware of your own capabilities and do only what you are comfortable with. If you have any doubts about the exercise suitability, you should refer back to your GP for advice.
- Group classes run in line with local school term times, there will not usually be a class during half term or school holidays.
- The exact class dates will be confirmed ahead of each term and existing clients will be given priority booking.
